The Forester men's hockey team prevailed 4-3 at Marian University Friday night. Sophomore forward Jack Lewis scored two of Lake Forest's goals, including the game-winner.

Lewis and senior forward Luke Swardenski each lit the lamp in the opening period as the Foresters jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Swardenski's team-high ninth goal of the year started the scoring at the 4:46 mark with fellow senior forward Bobby Barrett picking up an assist. Jason McAloon, another senior forward, set up Lewis at 11:15.

It remained 2-0 until Marian finally got on the scoreboard at the 12:11 mark of the second period. The Sabres then tied the game at 14:56. Barrett regained the lead for the visitors with a shorthanded goal at the 17:20 mark. His fourth goal of the season and first career short-handed score was assisted by senior defenseman Ben Certo. The home team, however, tied the game again with just 1:27 remaining in the period.

Lewis netted the only goal of the third period at 12:47 off a pass from Certo. It was the second game-winning goal of the year for Lewis, who leads the Foresters with 17 points.

The home team had a 37-31 advantage in shots on goal on the night but Lake Forest junior goaltender Leo Podolsky tallied 34 saves to improve his record on the year to 8-2-3.

The Foresters are now 8-3-5 overall and 6-2-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Marian fell to 6-10-0 overall and 2-7-0 in the league. The teams will face off again Saturday night at 7:00 in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Field House.
