The Forester men's hockey team netted a pair of second period goals in a 2-2 tie at Gustavus Adolphus College Friday night. Lake Forest sophomore goaltender Leo Podolsky had a career-high 41 saves in the contest.

Podolsky stopped 12 of 13 shots on goal in the opening period, all 17 he faced in the second, and 13 of 14 in the third. He also turned away the only shot on goal he faced in the five-minute overtime.

The Golden Gusties took the early lead on a power play goal at the 5:51 mark of the first period.

Lake Forest tied the score at 5:48 in the second on sophomore forward Ian Pichel's first goal of the season. He was assisted by junior forward Jordan Bruce. 

The Foresters went ahead on a goal by their leading scorer, Bobby Barrett, with 5:09 to play in the second. His 10th goal of the year was assisted by junior defensemen Charlie Stein and Ben Certo.

A short-handed goal by the home team midway through the third was the only score of the period and turned out to be the official game-tying goal.

Lake Forest was out-shot 43-30 on the night. It was only the fourth time this season the Foresters put fewer shots on goal than their opponent.

The tie leaves Lake Forest with a record of 5-8-1 and Gustavus Adolphus at 7-3-3 on the season.

The Foresters will play another non-conference game at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at St. Olaf College.
