The Forester women's basketball team dropped a 64-47 decision at
St. Norbert College on Saturday (Febraury 6). Lake Forest fell to
14-6 overall and 10-3 in Midwest Conference play. The Green Knights
are now 16-3 overall and 11-2 in the league. The teams split the
regular season series.
With a career-high 11 points, freshman guard Alex Messacar (Saint
Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North) was the only Forester in double
figures. Senior guard Tracy Rainey (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) led
the visitors with six rebounds, freshman guard Sam Schuring (Elk
Grove, Calif./Elk Grove) had three steals, and senior center Lisa Nassin (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) blocked three
shots.
Lake Forest's .391 field goal percentage was the team's
second-lowest mark in a game this season. St. Norbert shot 53.3
percent from the field and out-rebounded the Foresters 31-23.
A 13-2 Green Knight run in the first half broke a 9-9 tie and put
the home team ahead for good. Lake Forest closed to within four
points later in the period and trailed 29-21 at halftime.
The home team scored the first nine points of the second half and
led by between 13 and 21 points the rest of the way.
The Foresters will try to rebound at Knox College next Saturday
