The Forester men's basketball team routed Beloit College 77-56
on the road Friday night (January 15). Lake Forest is now 4-8
overall this season and 2-3 in Midwest Conference play. The
Buccaneers fell to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the league.
Forester sophomore post player Travis Clark
(Evanston, Ill./Evanston) led all players in the game with 17
points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and tied for team-high
honors with eight rebounds and four assists. With 10 points,
freshman guard Jeff Beck
(Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown) was the only other player in the
contest to reach double figures in scoring. Sophomore post player
Dayton
Young (Muskego, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and sophomore forward
Nate
Bateman (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) each scored
nine points and Young matched Clark's eight rebounds. Senior
forward Patrick Hanley (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) was the other
Forester with four assists.
Lake Forest shot 57.7 percent from the floor while the Bucs made
just 38 percent of their field goal attempts. The Foresters also
had a 37-26 edge in rebounds.
The Foresters led for nearly all of the game and used a 12-1 first
half run to extend the advantage to double figures, where it
remained the rest of the contest. Lake Forest led 40-23 at halftime
and by as many at 28 (72-44) late in the game.
Lake Forest will travel to Lawrence University for tomorrow
