The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 9-1 at Milwaukee
School of Engineering Saturday night (December 5). Lake Forest,
which defeated M.S.O.E. 3-2 at home the previous night, fell to
3-7-0 overall and 3-4-0 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association
play. The Raiders are now 5-3-0, both overall and in league
play.
The home team jumped out to a commanding early lead by scoring six
times in the opening period. Two of the goals came on the power
play and the Raiders put 32 shots on goal in the period.
Both teams scored once in the second stanza. Senior Sean Farley
(Park Ridge, Ill./Utica College) converted a power play opportunity
for the Foresters at 9:45 for their only goal of the contest. His
first goal of the season was assisted by freshmen Zak Borowski
(Gloucester, Ma./Granite City Lumberjacks) and Mike Rubino
(Woodbridge, Ontario/St. Michael's Buzzers).
Lake Forest was out-shot 23-14 in the second period and 8-2 as the
home team tacked on two more goals in the third.
It was the final game of the first semester for the Foresters, who
will travel back to M.S.O.E. to begin the 2010 portion of their
schedule on Friday, January 8, at 7:05 p.m.. The non-conference
game will be followed by an MCHA tilt at Lawrence University the
following night at 7:00.
