The Lake Forest College men's hockey team hosted and defeated
Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-2 Friday night (December 4). The
Foresters are now 3-6-0 overall and evened their Midwest Collegiate
Hockey Association record at 3-3-0. The Raiders fell to 4-3-0
overall and in the league.
M.S.O.E. netted the game's first goal just 63 seconds into the
contest.
The Foresters responded with three consecutive scores, beginning
with a power play goal by senior Peter Pfeffer (Farmington Hills,
Mich./Walpole Stars) at 11:44. His third score of the season was
assisted by fellow senior Adam Love (Durham, Ontario/Elmira Sugar
Kings) and freshman Mike Rubino (Woodbridge, Ontario/St. Michael's
Buzzers). Freshman Zak Borowski (Gloucester, Ma./Granite City
Lumberjacks) then gave the home team the lead just 40 second later
with junior Tyler Gross (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac H.S.)
earning the only assist. It was Borowski's third goal of the year.
Senior Justin Taylor (Sun Valley, Idaho/Walpole Stars) completed
the three-goal run with his fourth score of the season at 16:37.
What turned out to be the official game-winning goal was assisted
by freshmen Thomas Bark (Toronto, Ontario/Streetsville Derbys) and
Marc Rubino (Woodbridge, Ontario/St. Michael's Buzzers).
The Raiders scored the final goal of the contest on the power play
with just 25 seconds to play in the first period.
Lake Forest was out-shot 14-12 in the opening period, 13-8 in the
second, and 18-5 in the third but Forester freshman goaltender
Brendan Sullivan (Fall River, Mass./Aurora Tigers) turned away the
final 31 shots on goal he faced to earn the victory.
The same two teams will face off again tomorrow night at 7:05 in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A live radio broadcast of the game will be
available on the Milwaukee School of Engineering web site.
