The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated
10-2 at Adrian College Friday night (November 20). The Foresters
fell to 2-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in Midwest Collegiate Hockey
Association play. The Bulldogs, the nation's fifth-ranked team, are
now 5-0-0 both overall and in MCHA play.
Adrian took the lead 69 seconds into the contest and added a power
play goal at the 10:53 mark of the opening period. The home team
out-shot the Foresters 18-10 in the first period and led 2-0 at the
first intermission.
A shorthanded goal 74 seconds into the second period extended the
Bulldogs' lead to 3-0 but the Foresters got that score back on a
power play goal by freshman Thomas Bark (Toronto,
Ontario/Streetsville Derbys) at 3:36. Bark's first career score was
assisted by classmate Marc Rubino (Woodbridge, Ontario/St.
Michael's Buzzers) and senior Justin Taylor (Sun Valley,
Idaho/Walpole Stars). Adrian, however, scored while on the power
play at 7:20, added an even-strength goal 58 seconds later, and
converted another power play opportunity at 16:49 to take a 6-1
lead and a 34-16 advantage in shots going into the third
period.
The home team scored with a 5-on-3 advantage at 8:01 in the final
period and extended the
lead to 8-1 with another goal at 10:52. Rubino scored for the third
time this season at 14:12 off assists by junior Tyler Gross (Fond
du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac H.S.) and sophomore Joel Gard
(Orangeville, Ontario/Streetsville Derbys). Adrian responded to the
Foresters' power play goal just 47 seconds later and added the
final tally of the game at 16:34.
Adrian finished the contest with 51 shots on goal, more than twice
the Foresters' 25.
The Foresters and Bulldogs will face off again at Adrian at 3:00
(EST) Saturday afternoon (November 21). Live statistics for the
contest will be available on the Adrian College Web site.
