Coach Ryan Casey

Casey Ryan

Casey Ryan was named head coach of the Forester women's lacrosse program in July of 2023 after five years as an assistant coach at the collegiate level.

Under Ryan's direction, the 2025 Foresters won a program record 15 games against just five losses. They captured a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship with victories in each of their nine league games and added two more triumphs to win the NACC Tournament. Lake Forest's final victory of the year came against Carroll University in the NCAA Division III Tournament, where a score with just 11 seconds remaining sent the team to the second round.

The Foresters outscored their opponents 322-179 over the course of the 2025 season. Jenna Doctor ranked third in the nation with 101 goals, Emma Sharp finished second with 79 assists, and the team was third in caused turnovers with 303.

Doctor was named 2025 NACC Attacker of the Year and Savannah Frauhiger the NACC Defender of the Year. They were joined by a pair of teammates as First Team All-NACC selections while two additional Foresters earned second team honors and two more were honorable mention selections. Doctor and Frauhiger also garnered First Team All-Region accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) while Sharp was a second team honoree. In addition, Doctor and Frauhiger were selected to play in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.

Fifteen Foresters were named NACC Scholar-Athletes in 2025, including two who added Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators.

Lake Forest players have now accumulated 15 all-conference honors, six all-region accolades, and 24 conference academic awards in Ryan's two seasons as head coach. The Foresters are 29-9 overall and 13-1 in league play with a regular season league championship, two conference tournament titles, and two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances during that span.

Ryan came to Lake Forest from NCAA Division I University of Akron, where she was an assistant coach for two seasons. She led the program's recruiting efforts and served as defensive coordinator for the Zips program that began play in 2019-20. Ryan was also instrumental in planning team practices and individual training sessions, scouting opponents, coordinating academic advisement for 35 student-athletes, and assisting in the management of day-to-day team operations.

Prior to her time at Akron, Ryan spent three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Division III Wittenberg University, where she assisted the head coach in nearly all aspects of the program. She also earned her master's degree in coaching and sports administration from Wittenberg in 2020.

Ryan's coaching experience also includes several successful seasons at the club level in Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Ryan graduated from Beloit College, which like Lake Forest, is a member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. She played four years for the Buccaneers and was a Second Team All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference selection as a junior. The two-year captain still ranks among the program leaders with 101 ground balls and 60 caused turnovers during her career. The psychology major earned her degree in 2018.

Also a graduate of nearby Libertyville High School, Ryan was a dual sport athlete for the Wildcats, playing lacrosse and running cross country.
