Shelby McPhail

The 2024-25 season will be the first on the Forester women's hockey coaching staff for Shelby McPhail.

McPhail's coaching career began at the collegiate level in 2019 when he became the head coach and director of operations of the ACHA program at Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also served as an admissions counselor during his three years at the institution and directed his 2021-22 team to a North Division title in the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association Silver League.

In 2022 McPhail moved to Oregon for a position as a travel head coach and in player development for the Portland Jr. Winterhawks. He was later elevated to director of hockey operations before returning to the Midwest as an assistant coach with the Willmar WarHawks of the NA3HL.

A native of Port Washington, Wisconsin, McPahil played for the Wisconsin Rampage and later the ACHA program at Concordia University Wisconsin, where he was a team captain during the 2017-18 season. He graduated from Concordia Wisconsin in May of 2018 with a degree in sports and entertainment business.

McPhail also serves as an administrative assistant in the Lake Forest College Department of Athletics.
