Amelia Murray

The 2023-24 season will be the first for Amelia Murray as an assistant coach at the College. She is responsible for additional efforts in recruitment and aiding the forward group in games.

Murray has spent the last three seasons coaching and mentoring the U16 & U19 Chicago Young American Girls programs while helping aid recruitment efforts and collegiate placement, in addition to her time spent working with USA Hockey. Notably, Murray has been a lead evaluator for several Central District Camps as well as serving as a goalie coach and evaluator for national camps U15 & U16/17 programs. Murray has also served on staff with GDI goaltending since 2015.

Murray completed a four-year playing career at NCAA Division I Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. in 2020. As a goaltender and two-year captain for the Dutchmen, she appeared in 51 games with a .900 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average in her career. Murray was a community service and outreach awardee and three-time Ashley Kilstein Community Service Award winner at Union.

In the 2021-22 season, Murray played professionally with the Eisbaren Berlin Frauen in the Duetsche Fraueneishockey-Liga (DFEL) tallying just shy of a .900 save average.

A native of nearby McHenry, Illinois, Murray began her playing career with the Chicago Young Americans and led them to both a national Championship and State Championship in 2013, a national runner up appearance in 2015, and a quarterfinal finish in 2016. She was ranked as the top goaltender in Illinois in 2014 and was selected to represent Team Illinois at the American Showcase in 2014 under the direction of current Lake Forest College Head Women's Hockey Coach Jennifer Wilson.

In addition to coaching, Murray is continuing her education at Marquette University Law School.
