Jon Roby spent his sixth season as the Foresters' diving coach in 2024-25.

Under Roby's direction, Harriett Townsend was the back-to-back 3-meter champion and runner-up off the 1-meter board at the 2023 and 2024 Midwest Conference Championship Meets. Lake Forest divers have combined to earn 356 points and post nine top-three finishes at the five MWC Championships since Roby joined the staff.

Lake Forest teams have combined for a 42-29 dual meet record since Roby joined the staff. The have also placed among the top three at every conference meet during that span and the Forester women captured the league title in 2020.

Diving is a family affair for Roby. With both parents as diving coaches, Roby's career in the sport began at Glenbrook North High School, where he was a three-time CSL North Conference Champion, three-time sectional champion, two-time NISCA All-American and two-time Illinois state runner-up. While in high school he also attended the AAU and USA Diving Junior National Championships as a junior and senior, earning All-American honors both seasons. Roby was recruited to and dove for the University of Minnesota and went on to compete in the 2011-14 USA Diving Seniors National Championships.

Since he stopped diving competitively, Roby has focused on coaching and mentoring divers of all ages. He is the head coach of Patriot Diving, based out of Stevenson High School, as well as the diving coach for the Stevenson girls and Highland Park boys diving teams. He has had eight state qualifiers, three all-conference honorees, and three all-sectional divers in his six years of coaching at the high school level.
