Mike Arthur

The 2014 season will be the second for Mike Arthur on theForester staff and his 12th year of coaching at the collegiatelevel.

After graduating their starting quarterback, tailback, and toptwo wide receivers from 2012, the Foresters received significantcontributions from several different offensive players inArthur’s first season as coordinator. Four players led LakeForest in rushing at least once and five recorded team-highs inreceptions or receiving yards. Two players on that side of the ballwere named Second Team All-Midwest Conference, including offensivelineman Tom Mitchell.

Arthur spent the previous seven seasons at NCAA Division IIVirginia State University, where he spent time serving as theTrojans’ run game coordinator, offensive line coach, strengthand conditioning assistant, and video coordinator. He helped leadVirginia State to the Central Collegiate Athletic Associationchampionship game in 2010.

Prior to his time at Virginia State, Arthur was an assistantoffensive coach at NCAA Division II Wingate University in 2005 andworked with the tackles and tight ends at Glenville State College,his alma mater, in 2004. He began his coaching career as a studentassistant at Glenville State in 2003.

In 11 years of coaching, Arthur has been directly responsiblefor offensive linemen and tight ends that combined to earn 14all-conference honors and oversaw running games that produced apair of CIAA Rookie of the Year running backs.

Arthur and his wife Melanie live in Lake Forest with their sonBrycen and daughter Brylee.
