Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Steve Bourbon

Foresters Survive for Overtime Victory

The Lake Forest men's basketball team had to battle for 40 minutes and then some on Wednesday night to defeat Beloit College on the road, 98-92, in overtime.

Alex Forowycz led all scorers with 29 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting. The senior from Lake Forest, Ill., was also 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line.

It was the most points in a game for Forowycz since he scored 35 in a win earlier this season over Loras College on Dec. 30, 2025.

Cristian Rodriguez earned his seventh double-double of his senior campaign with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Coltrane Marchand scored 15 points and collected nine rebounds, and guard Alex Brown provided a spark off the bench with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting.

Lake Forest (14-7, 9-3 MWC) shot 59 percent for the game, its second-highest mark for any game this season. While the Foresters shot 42.9 percent from the three-point line overall, Lake Forest sunk 9-of-15 from behind the arc in the second half and overtime, combined.

The win marked the third consecutive triumph for the Foresters, but it was hardly an easy battle against the Buccaneers, who are still looking for their first Midwest Conference win of the season.

The two sides battled back throughout the entire second half, as there were 15 ties and 12 lead changes in the second half alone.

After a pair of Beloit free throws tied the game at 82 with just 11.5 seconds remaining in the game, Lake Forest had multiple chances to win the game in regulation. Rodriguez backed his defender down from the free-throw line, then spun to his right, but his layup off glass would not go. Marchand crashed the offensive boards, but his putback attempt at the buzzer would not fall.

The Foresters seized control in the extra period by making 83.3 percent of their shots, while holding Beloit to just 30 percent shooting in overtime.

After falling behind 85-84 less than a minute into overtime, Lake Forest went on an 8-0 run to build a seven-point lead with under a minute remaining.

Lake Forest will remain on the road for its next contest. The Foresters will travel to Jacksonville, Ill., on Saturday to take on the Blueboys of Illinois College. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
