Foresters Top Century Mark in Rout of Knox

The Lake Forest men's basketball team was lethal at the offensive end Saturday at the Sports & Recreation Center, as the Foresters ran away with an 101-67 conference victory over Knox College.

The Foresters (7-5, 2-1 MWC) scored more than 100 points for the first time this season and reached the century mark for the first time since Feb. 8, 2025, against Grinnell College. The triumph pushes Lake Forest's current winning streak to four games.

Lake Forest had five players in double figures scoring, as Alex Forowycz, Cristian Rodriguez, and Luke Arington all recorded 15 points apiece. The trio shot a combined 16-of-21 from the field, and the sharpshooters Forowycz and Arington teamed up to shoot 7-of-12 three-point attempts.

Anthony Favia and Nikolas Popovic each added 13 points off the bench for Lake Forest. Junior wing Coltrane Marchand contributed in a variety of ways with seven points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal.

Lake Forest shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the field for the game, and its 15 made three-pointers are the most in a game this season since hitting 16 triples on Nov. 15, against MSOE.

Lake Forest's long-range shooting came to life after halftime. The Foresters shot a scalding 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from behind the arc after halftime.

Marchand stuffed the stat sheet in the first half by doing a little bit of everything. The junior recorded seven points, four rebounds, five assists, and added a steal and a block on the defensive end of the floor all in the first half.

The Foresters used their defense to turn into offense in the first half. Lake Forest won the turnover battle 12-5 before halftime, and the hosts made the most Knox's miscues. Lake Forest recorded 19 points off turnover before halftime and held Knox to 39.4 percent shooting in the first half.

Lake Forest used a strong push late in the first half to extend its lead. The Foresters utilized a 16-7 run to turn a 27-26 lead into a 43-33 advantage, punctuated by a Nikolas Popovic layup off of a steal and assist from Marchand.

A 15-2 run for the hosts in the first five minutes after halftime pushed the Lake Forest advantage to more than 20, and the Prairie Fire would not get any closer than that for the rest of the game.

The Foresters will continue Midwest Conference play in their next outing, as Lake Forest will host Illinois College on Wednesday. Tipoff at the Sports & Recreation Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
