Lake Forest College Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics
Jim Catanzaro recently announced the additions of Russell Scott and Ryan Caparrelli '25 to the department's staff. Scott will serve as Deputy Director of Athletics and Caparrelli as Sports Marketing Specialist.
"Both individuals are perfect fits for these new roles and will be great additions to our staff," commented Catanzaro. "Russell will be a great mentor to student athletes and coaches alike while serving as a campus collaborator. 'Cap' showcased his creative talents throughout his time as a student and will help take out digital content to a higher level."
Scott has been a teacher, coach, and speaker in Chandler, Arizona, for more than two decades. He served as an assistant coach for the football and track and field teams at Chandler High School from 2001 to 2022 and recently completed his 19th year as a special education teacher at the same school. He also did character development speaking at all six high schools in the district.
In addition to his role in schools, Scott is the president and owner of True Indeed LLC, which provides motivational speaking and consulting services. Through the company he works with various schools, teams, and organizations and has been a speaker at Lake Forest College on multiple occasions.
"I am truly humbled by this opportunity," began Scott. "I look forward to working with the administration, faculty, staff, and student-athletes at Lake Forest College."
Caparrelli graduated from Lake Forest in May with a degree in communication. After competing on the men's lacrosse team as a freshman and sophomore, he served as a mixed media specialist for the program the next two seasons and for the football team last fall. He also created and edited content for use on the Forester Athleti Department's social media accounts.
He has also spent time as a youth sports coordinator and lacrosse coach in his hometown of Bedford, New Hampshire.
"Returning to work at my alma mater in sports media marketing is a meaningful full-circle moment," commented Caparrelli. "Over the past two years, I've been proud to help elevate our athletic programs through storytelling, digital content, and fan engagement strategies. Coming back gives me the opportunity to continue that momentum and take what we've built to the next level. There's something special about giving back to the place that shaped you and I'm excited to keep pushing our brand forward with pride and purpose."
