Golfer Gabrielle Krebs and track runner Ollie Francis were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Krebs was the individual champion and led Lake Forest to the team title at Augustana College's Viking Classic over the weekend. Her 1-over 73 on Saturday matched the fourth-best score in team history while Sunday's 3-over 75, which featured a birdie on the 17th hole to give her the lead for good, tied the ninth-lowest mark. The sophomore's final score of 148 broke the program's 36-hole record she already held by two strokes.
Krebs, who now owns eight of the top 12 rounds in school history, also set a team record with a scoring average of 79.07 this season and her career mark of 81.10 is the best in team annals by more than two shots per round.
Francis posted the fastest 800m time in the Midwest Conference this spring while finishing third of of 61 competitors at the Elmhurst Twilight Invite on Friday. The sophomore finished two laps around the track in 1:54.36 to break the school record he set on the same track three weeks earlier by .84 seconds. He also ran a leg on the Foresters' 4x400m relay team that broke the program record by three seconds with a time of 3:26.63.
Francis has run the 800m four times this outdoor season and finished ahead of more than 95 percent of his competitors in those races combined.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Krebs also earned the award on September 3, twice last season, and three times as a freshman. Francis was honored on December 10 and once in 2023-24.
