The Lake Forest College softball team defeated Washington and Jefferson 9-3 and Hiram College 3-1 in Kissimmee, Florida, on Friday.
Four Foresters belted home runs on the day, including senior
Cheyenne Pellettiere in second inning of game one, junior right fielder
Emmie Nyen with a runner on in the third, and freshman shortstop
Vanessa Buske in the seventh. Nyen also drove in sophomore center fielder
Kaia Mismash on a squeeze bunt in the top of the first inning and Pellettiere doubled in a run in the third.
A sacrifice fly off the bat of freshman left fielder
Abbie Lewis made the score 6-0 in favor of Lake Forest in the top of the third. Washington and Jefferson cut the deficit in half with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth but a two-run single by sophomore first baseman
Jasmine Kohl in the sixth gave the Foresters a more comfortable five-run cushion and Buske's first career homer in the seventh closed out the scoring.

Brooke Challe allowed just one base-runner in the game's first three innings and junior
Morgan Traxinger went the rest of the way to earn her first career victory. Just one of the runs she allowed was earned.

Riley Stiles went the distance in the circle against Hiram, scattering seven singles and keeping the Terriers off the scoreboard until the seventh inning.
All three of Lake Forest's runs were scored in the first two innings. Nyen singled in junior third baseman
Cadence Dempsey with two outs in the first inning, sophomore left fielder
Jolie Devalk homered in the second, and senior shortstop
Kaylee Purgatorio came home on an error later in the frame. Devalk, who also singled laster in the contest, became the fourth player on the team with two home runs on the season.
The Foresters are now 5-3 during their season-opening Spring Break trip to Florida. Washington and Jefferson fell to 5-6 and Hiram to 5-3 this spring.
Lake Forest will close out play at The Spring Games by taking on Rowan University, the fourth-ranked team in the nation, Saturdya morning at 10:00 (ET) and Ohioe Wesleyan University at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
