The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team erased a four-goal deficit but eventually fell 10-7 at Hope College on Saturday.
After taking the early lead just two minutes into the game on the second goal of the season for junior
Ryan Dousevicz, the Foresters surrendered the final four scores of the opening period and the first of the second.
Lake Forest freshman
John Shannon ended the home team's run with his third score of the season and sophomore
Judson Norris hit an open net from midfield at the midpoint of the second quarter for his first career goal. Senior
Chas Dean's second of the year brought the visitors to within a goal late in the half and sophomore
Macklin Thomas tied the game two-and-a-half minutes into the third period.
Hope, however, regained the lead with a man-up goal less than two minutes later but the game was tied going into the fourth after senior
Trip Gaston tied Thomas for the team lead with his fourth score of 2025.
The Flying Dutch regained the lead for good just eight seconds into the final quarter and tacked on three insurance goals as the period progressed. The final tally of the game came from Thomas during a man-up situation with 1:37 remaining.
Hope put 25 shots on goal to the Foresters' 12 in the contest but Lake Forest senior goalie
Andrew Widlar's season-high-tying 15 saves kept his team in the game.
Lake Forest is now 0-3 and Hope 1-3 on the young season.
