The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 3-2 by College of Saint Benedict at home on Saturday.
After the series opener began with a scoreless opening period, the visitors struck while short-handed at the 7:58 mark of the second.
The Foresters answered at the 11:14 mark on junior forward
Tallulah Bryant's third of the season. Her first shot from near the right boards was saved, as was the rebound attempt by fellow junior forward
Jasmine Kohl. Bryant followed in her shot and was there to poke the second rebound past the goaltender to tie the score.
A penalty with just 4.2 seconds on the second period clock set up a power play opportunity for the Bennies and they converted just as the buzzer sounded.
Lake Forest evened the score again at 7:10 in the third. Junior forward
Ella Maher got behind the defense and received a long pass from junior defenseman
Kate Brennan just outside the blue. With Saint Benedict defenseman on her heels, she skated in and fired a shot into the left side of the net for her fourth score of the season.
It remained a 2-2 game until the Bennies netted their only even strength goal of the day with 5:25 on the clock. This time the Foresters were unable to match it.
Lake Forest freshman goaltender
Lily Peterfeso made a season-high 36 saves in the contest.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 6-3-0 while Saint Benedict improved to 4-2-0. The teams will face off again in the series finale Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
