The Forester men's basketball team defeated visiting Saint Mary's University 89-79 Tuesday evening.
Lake Forest trailed 66-52 with a little more than 11 minutes to play and still faced a nine-point deficit (70-61) three minutes later. The Foresters then rattled off 12 straight points, including a go-ahead basket by senior wing
Alex Brown, and were ahead by three with six minutes left. The margin was just one at 77-76 with four minutes remaining when the home team began a 12-3 run to close out the contest.
The Foresters forced seven Saint Mary's turnovers in the final 11 minutes and the visitors missed each of their last six field goal attempts in the contest. Lake Forest shot 12-for-22 from the field while out-scoring the Cardinals 37-13 down the stretch.
Brown led the Foresters with a career-high 19 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Senior forward
Cristian Rodriguez was next with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and senior wing
Luke Arington connected four times in eight tries from beyond the arc in a 14-point performance. Senior wing

Coltrane Marchand also reached double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Forowycz was the team's leading rebounder with seven while Coltrane dished out a team-high five assists.
Lake Forest's .446 field goal percentage was just slightly better than Saint Mary's .433. The Foresters out-scored their guests 24-17 from the foul line, had a 41-36 edge in rebounds, and committed just eight turnovers to the Cardinals' 16.
The victory evened Lake Forest's record this season at 3-3 while Saint Mary's fell to 0-6.
The Foresters have scored at least 86 points in every game this year and will look to continue that run and their three-game winning streak against the University of Chicago at home next Wednesday night at 7:00.
