Despite shooting 50 percent from the field, the Forester women's basketball team was defeated 90-70 by Alma College in the consolation game of Wheaton College's Beth Baker Classic on Saturday.

Lake Forest was also 8-for-18 from three-point range and made 18 free throws in the contest. Alma, however, shot 50.8 percent from the field and 9-fpr-20 from beyond the arc and made 19 free throws. The Scots also had a 35-26 edge in rebounds and committed just nine turnovers to the Foresters' 18.

After scoring seven points in both tournament games and shooting 9-for-10 from the foul line on the weekend, Lake Forest sophomore guard Ariana Ferreira-Torralba was named to the Beth Baker Classic All-Tournament Team.

A 5-4 advantage was Lake Forest's only lead of Saturday's game and Alma was ahead by 10 (23-13 by the end of the first quarter. The margin grew to 15 early in the second but the Foresters battled back and trailed by just four at 41-37 at halftime.

They got no closer, however, as Alma out-scored them 23-11 in the third quarter and 26-22 in the fourth.

Both teams are now 1-3 on the season.

Lake Forest will play at Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night at 7:00.
