Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Lake Forest Falls at Concordia Wisconsin in Season's Final Non-Conference Game

The Forester women's hockey team was doubled up 4-2 at Concordia University Wisconsin in non-conference play Tuesday night.

The only goal scored while both teams had five skaters on the ice was the first of the game, which was scored by the Falcons at the 1:42 mark of the second period. Both teams had put nine shots on goal and failed to convert on a pair of power play opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the contest.

Both squads killed off another penalty in the second period before Lake Forest netted a power play goal to tie the score at the 15:52 mark. It was the fourth score of the season and eighth career power play goal for senior defenseman Abby Meyer, who was assisted by junior defenseman Holly Kiernan.

The score was not 1-2 for long, however, as Concordia Wisconsin took advantage of the game's next power play opportunity with just 29 seconds on the clock. The Falcons out-shot their guests 24-12 in the period and led by one entering the third.

Another Forester penalty 47 seconds into the final period led to another goal for the home team just seven seconds later, making the score 3-1.

The scoreboard did not change again until the Foresters pulled sophomore goaltender Chelsea Denniss in favor of an extra attacker with more than three minutes remaining and the move finally paid off with 1:33 to play. It was the second goal of the year for senior defenseman Sophia Chapman with assists credited to senior forward Zoey Whittington and sophomore forward Jasmine Kohl.

Lake Forest went without a goalie again 25 seconds later but this time the result was a Falcon goal with 11 seconds left.

The visitors had a 17-9 advantage in shots on goal in the last 20 minutes.

Dennis stopped 38 of 41 shots on goal in the contest.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 5-6-2 while Concordia Wisconsin improved to 12-2-0.

The rest of Lake Forest's regular season schedule is made up of Northern Collegiate Hockey Association games, beginning with this weekend's series with Marian University. The teams will face off in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Friday and in Lake Forest on Saturday.
