The Forester women's hockey team won its third straight game Friday night, a 3-1 decision against visiting University of Dubuque.
Sophomore forward
Victoria Liu was responsible for two of the home team's three goals. She netted the official game-winner at the 9:07 mark of the second period and struck for the third time this year at 7:37 in the second to make it a 3-0 game. It was the first multi-goal game of her collegiate career and both scores were assisted by senior defenseman
Abby Meyer.
Lake Forest had taken the early lead on a power play goal by senior forward
Zoey Whittington at 5:38 in the opening period. Her seventh score of the season was set up by a pair of defensemen, senior
Sophia Chapman and sophomore
Kate Brennan. Whittington is now tied for the team lead with 14 points this winter.
Forester senior goaltender
Donna Fowler made 18 saves on the night and allowed just one goal for the third game in a row. She improved to 7-5-1 with a .926 save percentage and 2.14 goals against average on the year.
The Foresters out-shot the Spratans 47-18 in the contest and raised their overall record to 9-8-3 and evened their Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark at 5-5-3. Dubuque fell to 5-13-1 overall and 1-11-1 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday at 2:00 p.m. It will be Alumni Day and the 2025 Ry McCarthy Award will be presented between the first two periods.
