Juniors
Chas Dean and
Trip Gaston also scored in the opening period, which ended with Lake Forest ahead 4-1. After Benedictine made it a 4-2 game less than 30 seconds into the second, scores from Forester sophomore
Brant Schuckman and Herbert gave the visitors a 6-2 advantage at halftime.
Herbert scored twice in the third but so did the Eagles. Freshman
Carson Pagel's goal with 29 seconds left in the quarter put Lake Forest on top 9-4 going into the fourth.
After the home team closed back to within four just 19 seconds into the final stanza, the Foresters erupted for seven in a row, including two by Thomas to begin the run and back-to-back goals by Pagel to make the score 16-5. Herbert also contributed to the streak, as did sophomore

Two more goals for the Eagles were followed by one from Forester junior
Connor Tartaglione in the closing seconds.
Lake Forest junior goalie
Andrew Widlar made four saves and earned the victory.
Led by junior
Conor Murphy's eight and six from graduate student
Gordon Kiesgen IV, the Foresters had a commanding 42-23 edge in ground balls. Murphy also caused a pair of turnovers while junior
Jack Gillard led the team in that category with three.
The visitors won 17 of 26 face-offs, including six in seven tries by sophomore
