The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 6-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Slaats Cup Semifinals Saturday night at Adiran College, the fifth-ranked team in the nation.
The Bulldogs took the early lead exactly 100 seconds into the contest and added two more tallies by the midpoint of the first period.
The score remained 3-0 until the home team struck again at the 11:12 mark of the second period and Adrian added a fifth goal just 45 seconds later.
The Foresters got on the scoreboard at 8:08 in the third when freshman forward
Tallulah Bryant netted her team-high-tying sixth goal of the year. Senior defenseman
Grace Garby fired a shot from above the left circle and the rebound came out to the other side to Bryant, whose shot flew into the right side of the net. Freshman forward
Victoria Liu was also credited with an assist and finished the season as the team's leader with 14 points.
Adrian regained its five-goal advantage at the 13:23 mark and neither team scored again.
Lake Forest finished 2023-24 with an overall record of 14-14-0. Adrian improved to 26-2-0 and will host St. Norbert College in the 2024 NCHA Slaats Cup Final next Saturday.
The Slaats Cup is named after current Lake Forest College Vice President for Athletics Jackie Slaats, a major contributor to the formation of the conference during her tenure as the Foresters' athletic director.
