The Lake Forest College men's basketball team rolled 70-42 against visiting Beloit College in Saturday afternoon's season finale.
The game featured a significant milestone as guard
Alex Knight became the 24th Forester to score 1,000 career points and just the ninth to accomplish the feat as a junior. He entered the day with 992 and reached 1,000 on a basket with 1:44 remaining in the first half. Knight scored 17 points in the contest and his 506 points this season are the fifth-highest total in team history.
Sophomore wing
Alex Forowycz led all players in the contest with 23 points. He connected five times from three-point range on the day and his 74 three-pointers this winter rank fourth in school history.
Freshman wing
Coltrane Marchand was next on the team with eight points and led the squad with 10 rebounds and four steals.Â
Lake Forest shot 36.6 percent from the field and limited Beloit to just 30.2 percent. The home team outscored the Buccaneers 24-6 on three-pointers and 10-8 from the foul line. The Foresters also had a 43-40 edge in rebounds and committed just six turnovers while forcing 18.
The game was tied at 10 before 10 straight points from the Foresters gave them the lead for good. Trailing 27-15 at halftime, Beloit cut that deficit in half before a 13-3 Lake Forest run made the score 47-31 with 11:48 to play. The Foresters were ahead by 13 before accounting for 20 of the final 25 points in the contest.
Saturday's victory was the final collegiate game for Forester senior guard
Zach Foster, who was honored on the court in a pregame ceremony.
Lake Forest finished the season with a 9-16 overall record and 7-9 mark in Midwest Conference play. Beloit fell to 16-9 overall and 9-7 in the league.
