The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams hosted and defeated the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday. The Forester women prevailed 135-101 and the men in more convincing fashion at 164-71.
The home team won 20 of 26 events, beginning with both 200m-medley relays. Freshmen
Sofia Reese,
Abigail Atwell and
Isabella Rozenbergas were followed by sophomore Kate Downing and posted a time of 2:11.03 in the women's race. The men's 1:50.19 was posted by seniors
Noah McAdam and
Tucker Potts, sophomore Caneron Schlosser, and junior
Barrett Coffey.
The first two individual events were also Forester sweeps. Junior
Amelie Andres won the women's 800m-freestyle by 13 seconds and freshman
Matthew Strada broke the pool record in the men's race, completing 32 lengths of the pool in 8:30.62.
Rozenbergas prevailed with a time of 2:08.51 in the 200m-freestyle and senior
Ben Jacob edged out classmate
Demetri Zemenides to take the men's race in 2:02.09.
Lake Forest had the five fastest swimmers in the men's 50m-freestyle, which McAdam won in 24.84 seconds.
The Paddon-Jones twins finished first and second in the women's 200m-IM with Sylvie (2:36.51) finishing first and Michelle second. Sophomore
Clayton Berg made it another Lake Forest sweep with a clocking of 2:20.94 in the men's race.
Forester alumni in attendance were honored just before the first diving break and current Lake Forest swimmers went on to win the next eight events. The streak began with
Michelle Paddon-Jones (1:08.58) and Schlosser (59.58) taking the 100m-butterfly.
Rosenbergas earned her second individual win and third overall with a time of 59.57 in the women's 100m-freestyle and Zemenides took the men's by .11 seconds in 55.20.
Freshman
Joss Hoffman touchdown the wall first in the women's 100m-backstroke in 1:09.62 and McAdam posted a time of 59.48 seconds for his second individual victory and third overall.
Andres tied the meet's win totals of Rozenbergas and McAdam with a time of 4:47.95 in the 400m-freestyle and Strada matched her dominance in the distance events by taking the men's race in 4:20.46.
The Foresters' final sweep came in the 100m-breaststroke with Hoffman winning on the women's side in 1:22.64 and junior
Andrew Lee the men's with a time of 1:10.60.
The Lake Forest men closed out the meet with first and second place finishes in the 400m-freestyle relay with sophomore
Benjamin Scott, Jacob, Zemenides, and Lee coming out on top in 3:44.23.
The Forester women and now 4-2 and the men 3-3 in dual meets this season.
The next meet on the team's schedule is the Carthage Classic November 5-7.
