Box Score The Lake Forest College women's hockey team began the 2024-25 season with a 3-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior at home Friday night. The win came in the collegiate head coaching debut of Amy Budde.
Budde's Foresters started the scoring in the middle of the second period. Senior forward
Lauren Wensel was one of several players in front of the Superior goal and was able to poke the puck in the net to put the home team on top. Junior forward
Emma Sweeney and senior forward
Anna McCluskey were credited with assists on the play.
Lake Forest doubled its lead with 71 seconds remaining in the period. Freshman forward
Lily Anderson raced along the left boards and turned the corner near the goal line. She found McCluskey just on the other side of the goal to earn the assist and her first career point. It was McCluskey's first career game with a goal and an assist.
The Foresters were able to kill their first five penalties of the game but not a sixth as the visitors pulled back to within a goal on a power play score at 3:45 in the third.
The two-goal cushion was restored at the 9:07 mark, however, as sophomore forward
Tallulah Bryant fired a shot past the Superior goalie to account for the final score of the contest.
Lake Forest senior goaltender
Donna Fowler finished the night with a career-high 31 saves, including 15 in the opening period.
The same two teams will play again in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
