The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 11-1 by visiting Adrian College, the fifth-ranked team in the nation, Sunday afternoon.
The Foresters' lone goal came off the stick of freshman forward
Victoria Liu in the third period. Her third goal of the season was assisted by senior defenseman
Grace Garby.
The Bulldogs took the early lead less than four minutes into the contest and the score remained 1-0 for the rest of the opening period. The visitors then erupted for eight goals in the second.
There were no penalties in the first two periods but both teams were cited for four in the final 20 minutes. Adrian converted two of three power play opportunities to account for the final score.
Lake Forest is now 11-10 and Adrian 19-2-0 on the season.
The Foresters will travel to the University of Dubuque next weekend for 2:00 p.m. face-offs on Friday and Saturday.
