Lake Forest College swimming and diving hosted the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday. The women defeated their opponents 121-73 and the men fell 138-92. It was the second week in a row that the women won every event, and combined, the Foresters won 16 out of 26 events.
Junior
Karla Sanchez helped the women's team to victory by winning all three of her events. She led off the winning 200-medley relay where combined with freshman
Audrey Kilmer, fellow junior
Sylvie Paddon-Jones, and freshman Katie Downey. Sanchez went on to win the 100-backstroke in commanding fashion and then anchored the winning 200-freestyle relay at the end of the meet; she was joined by freshman Izzy Harju, sophomore
Valeria Welk, and junior
Michelle Paddon-Jones for that relay. Harju also won all three events they were entered in. Along with the 200-free relay, they touched the wall first in the 200-freestyle and the 100-butterfly.Â
Senior diver
Harriet Townsend won on both the 1- and 3-meters for the second week in a row.
For the men, freshman
Gavin Biccum won big in the 800- and 400-freestyles, beating his competition by nearly 30 seconds in the 800 and about four seconds in the 400. Juniors
Noah McAdam and
Ben Jacob along with sophomore
Demetri Zemenides scored big points for the team in the 200-freestyle by going 1-2-3 in the event.
The Foresters travel to St. Norbert College on Saturday, February 3. The meet will start at 1 PM and will be their last competition before the Midwest Conference Championships.
