Foresters Finish Off Weekend with Win over St. Norbert

Box Score

Freshman forward Abigail Tucci scored her first career goal and four other Foresters found the back of the net in Saturday's 5-1 victory over visiting St. Norbert College.

Tucci's score came at the 7:32 mark of the second period and made the score 4-0. Freshman defenseman Megan Truman earned an assist on the play for her first career point.

Tucci's first point as a Forester came just three minutes earlier on senior forward Amy Budde's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association-leading 13th goal of the year.

The middle 20 minutes of the game was a three-score period for Lake Forest, which also got a power play tally from junior forward Maddie Davis at the 3:15 mark. Junior forward Kristina Bellomo and freshman defenseman Olyvia Opsahl assisted on the fourth goal of the season for Davis, which also turned out to be her first career game-winner.

The home team's other two scores came from a pair of juniors, forward Sydney Simone at 8:35 in the opening period and defenseman Amanda Boisjolie on the power play at 12:13 in the third. Junior forward Kate Fanning set up Simone's fifth of the year and Boisjolie's third was assisted by junior forward Lexi Morgan.

Forester junior goaltender Jacque Rogers needed just nine save to hold the Green Knights scoreless for the game's first 40 minutes. She exited at that point and freshman Samantha Stubbs went the rest of the way, making 10 saves before surrendering a score with just 49.1 seconds on the clock.

Rogers, who leads the NCHA with a .942 save percentage and 1.51 goals against average this season, improved to 5-4-3 on the year. She was also presented with Lake Forest's Ry McCarthy Award between the first and second periods, becoming the second Forester in the award's 10 years to receive it twice in her career.

Lake Forest is now 9-4-4 overall and 6-1-3 in NCHA play this season while St. Norbert fell to 4-11-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the league.

The Foresters will host Adrian College next weekend with Friday night's series opener set to begin at 7:00 and game two to start Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Friday is Parents Night and Saturday is the final regular season home game for Budde, the team's only senior.
