Michelle Greeneway Reaches 100 Career Points in Victory over Concordia Wisconsin

Box Score

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team defeated visiting Concordia University Wisconsin 5-3 Friday night. Forester junior forward Michelle Greeneway scored a pair of goals and added an assist to reach 100 points in her career.

Greeneway is just the second player in program history to record at least 100 points, joining Kim Herring (2008-12) in the exclusive club. She has already surpassed Herring for first place in team history with 68 career goals and is now just five away from her points record of 105. Greeneway also has 74 goals and 26 assists as a member of the Forester women's soccer team, meaning she has contributed to exactly 100 scores in both sports.

The Foresters scored the first five goals of Friday night's game, including three in the opening period. Sophomore forward Allie Girard started it off with her seventh goal of the season at 5:24. She was assisted by senior forward Marissa Weber. Greeneway netted an unassisted goal at the 13:41 mark and the home team's lead grew to three when junior forward Melissa Paluch scored just 33 seconds later. Freshman forward Leah Ebdon assisted on Paluch's 10th goal of the year.

Lake Forest senior Morgan Pope scored the only power play goal of the night at the 7:59 mark of the second period. Her seventh score overall this season was set up by Greeneway and freshman defenseman Kayla Griffith. Greeneway then made it a 5-0 game with another unassisted goal at 16:31.

Concordia Wisconsin finally got on the scoreboard with 1:21 remaining in the second period and accounted for the only scoring in the third with goals at 7:43 and 16:29.

The victory went to Forester junior goaltender Allie Carter, who made 23 saves on the night.

Lake Forest improved to 11-8-3 overall this season and 10-5-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Falcons fell to 10-9-5 overall and 6-7-4 in the league.

The Foresters will close out the regular season against visiting Marian University at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. They trail St. Norbert College by a point in the conference standings but own the tiebreaker over the Green Knights, who play at the College of St. Scholastica.
