Box Score Senior forward Kim Herring reached 100 career points with a goal and an assist as the Lake Forest women's hockey team defeated Finlandia 7-1 on Saturday night at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
Herring, who broke the school's scoring mark in a 5-1 win against Finlandia on Friday night, needed just two points to hit 100. She had an assist on Lake Forest's first goal of the game at 5:01 of the first period.
The Foresters (8-4-1, 7-2-0 NCHA) struck again just 14 seconds later on a goal by Morgan Pope and assisted by Jessica Dare and Stephanie Slinde. Lake Forest closed out the first period with a goal at 19:45 by Jenn Caldwell for a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.
Lake Forest went ahead 4-0 at 4:22 of the second period with a goal by Sarah Gilbride before Finlandia ended the shutout bid with a goal at 19:16.
The Foresters scored three goals in the third period at 5:26, 10:26 and 11:14. Herring, who scored the first goal of the period, hit 100 career points with the goal. Dare and Slinde each scored goal of their own to close out the scoring.
Jenna Brankin made 10 saves for Lake Forest while Finlandia goalie Ashley Pavlish stopped 37 shots.
The Foresters host Concordia (Wis.) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
