Rob Sommer joined the Forester coaching staff in 2014.
Sommer was a 24-time All-American and a national champion in the 100- and 200-backstroke and 400-medley relay at Williams College. After graduating from Williams with a bachelor's degree in psychology, he went on to earn a master's degree in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Martin Trust scholar.
A native of Cumberland, Maine, Sommer was an extremely successful swimmer for the Seacoast Swim Club and Greely High School. He once held eight state high school records and was a 2003 inductee into the Maine Swimming Hall of Fame.
Sommer worked for 25 years in the paper industry with responsibilities covering sales, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, investor relations, strategic planning, and general management. His business career focused on building high-performing teams and he retired in 2011 as Vice President of a $1 billion communication papers business. Sommer's professional leadership experience also includes serving on the board of directors of ForestExpress, LLC and co-chairing the American Forest and Paper Association’s Printing & Writing Executive Committee.
Sommer is currently a partner at Grease Consulting, LLC.
