Lake Forest College softball player
Kaia Mismash was named Midwest Conference Position Player of the Week on Monday for her performance in Saturday's doubleheader sweep at Carthage College.
Mismash broke her own program record with six stolen bases in game one, a 7-5 Forester victory. The junior shortstop was 3-for-4 at the plate, swiped second and third base following each of her three singles, and scored three runs while driving in one in the contest.
Game two was a 19-10 five-inning victory for the visitors with Mismash going 2-for-4 with three more stolen bases and another RBI and three runs scored.
In addition to her success at the plate and on the basepaths, Mismash successfully handled all eight of her chances in the field, recording three putouts and five assists.
The previous program record for stolen bases in a game was five, which Mismash accomplished against Knox College last April. She also had four at Cornell College six days earlier and game two on Saturday was her seventh career game with exactly three steals.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Mismash also earned the award three times during her freshman season.
