In its home opener of the 2023-24 season, the Lake Forest swimming and diving team hosted Lawrence University and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in a double dual on Saturday. The women's team swept the competition and racked up two wins, while the men defeated Lawrence and fell to Whitewater.
The Forester women dominated the meet, winning every single event. Some of the women won every event they were entered in.
The winning 200-medley relay was composed of junior
Karla Sanchez, sophomore
Amelie Andres, freshman Izzy Harju, and junior
Sylvie Paddon-Jones, who touched the wall over four seconds before the second-place finishers. Andres, Harju, and Paddon-Jones went on to win two more events each during the meet. Andres placed first in the 200-freestyle and 200-breaststroke. Harju was first in the 200-butterfly; they and Paddon-Jones combined with sophomore
Valeria Welk and freshman
Audrey Kilmer to win the 200-freestyle relay at the end of the meet. Paddon-Jones also added a win in the 50-freestyle. Kilmer was another swimmer who finished first in every event she was entered in; along with the 200-free relay, she was the fastest in the field in the 200-IM and 200-backstroke. Harriet Townsend won on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.
Freshman
Gavin Biccum won both of the distance events at the meet. He dominated the 800- and 400-freestyles, earning the Foresters coveted points. Sophomore
Andrew Lee placed first in the 200-IM, winning the event in dramatic fashion by out-touching his Whitewater opponent by on .04 seconds. Juniors

Noah McAdam added more wins for the men with their first place finishes in the 200-butterfly and 200-backstroke, respectively. The Foresters went 1-2-3 in the 200-butterfly with freshmen

Next week, the Foresters race again at home, hosting IIT on January 27th at 1 p.m. It will also be the team's senior day.
