Homecoming Weekend Roundup

11/3/2025 1:26:00 PM

October was a month full of pride as Forester Athletics celebrated one of the most anticipated events of the year, Homecoming Weekend! This annual tradition brought alumni back to campus and honored the spirit of excellence in our athletic community.

The weekend kicked off on a Friday with Women's Volleyball hosting the Illinois Institute of Technology for their Alumni Day match. While the Foresters fell short on the scoreboard, more than 300 students and alumni filled the stands to cheer on the team and celebrate generations of volleyball Foresters.

Saturday began with the Breakfast of Champions, where the department recognized milestone anniversaries for several championship teams: Men's Soccer (1974–75), Men's Basketball (1999–2000), Women's Basketball (1999–2000), Men's Swimming & Diving (2014–15), and Women's Softball (2014–15). Ed Packel was also proudly presented the 2025 Forester Impact Award for his outstanding contributions to the athletic program.

Later that morning, the department inducted four exceptional alumni into the 2025 Forester Athletic Hall of Fame: Sally Bevis '07 (Women's Hockey), Lisa Nassin '10 (Women's Basketball), Melika Celebic '13 (Women's Tennis), and John Adams '13 (Men's Tennis). Current Forester student athletes joined the celebration to honor these remarkable individuals and their lasting impact on our community.

Homecoming festivities concluded with an unforgettable performance from Forester Football, who dominated Beloit College in a 59–0 shutout victory. Over 1,100 fans packed Farwell Field, closing out a weekend filled with pride and celebration.

Forester Athletics now looks ahead to the start of winter sports and another season of competition and excellence.
