A celebratory opportunity, Division III Week is a time when colleges around the country observe the impact of athletics and student-athletes on campus. During the event, every DIII school and conference participates in various types of outreach activities that fall into three categories: academic accomplishment; athletic experience; or leadership, community service, and campus involvement.
At Lake Forest, the athletic department, student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), and athletic council (AC) organized and hosted a wide variety of different events throughout the week, both in-person and on social media.
On social media, the department and the Forester Fanatics shared alumni, faculty, and staff reflections of their time in DIII athletics and at Lake Forest College. There were spotlights of club sports, senior athletes, and mental health awareness.
On campus, a scavenger hunt kicked things off and lasted the whole week; Boomer cut outs were hidden all over campus for students, faculty, and staff to find and redeem for prizes at the end-of-the-week barbecue. Bark in the Park, where fans could bring their dogs to Farwell Field, was scheduled for the women's lacrosse game on Wednesday but was sadly postponed due to weather. Faculty and staff were thanked with games and a cookout on middle campus on Friday.
The week closed with a Fanatics event at the men's tennis match and a barbecue between the match and the softball games on Saturday. Coaches and staff grilled up burgers and hot dogs; there were games and activities for student-athletes to enjoy.
In all, it was a fun and festive week that highlighted and celebrated how important and wonderful Forester student-athletes are to the College community.
