Junior Olivia Smith finished with 14 kills, one shy of her career-high, but Lake Forest was defeated 24-26, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20 Friday night at Grinnell College.
Smith reached double figures in kills for the fourth time this season and she has pounded out at least eight in each of her eight appearances. Fellow junior Isabel Donnelly was next on the team with nine kills and senior Olivia Rhodes added eight.
Rhodes led the Foresters with 14 assists and Donnelly with three blocks. Freshman Izzi Visnvevac tallied a match-high 23 digs and added a pair of aces.
The loss dropped Lake Forest to 6-11 overall and 0-2 in Midwest Conference play. Grinnell improved to 16-2 overall and 2-0 in the league.
The Foresters will stay in Iowa and play at Cornell College Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
