Lake Forest College men's soccer players Elyas Ingram and Jakub Opiola were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performer of the Week, respectively, on Monday. They helped lead the Foresters to a 4-0 victory at Illinois College on Saturday.
Ingram, a senior who moved from defense to forward during the season, scored the visitors' first and third goals of the contest. He received a free kick from Opiola just in front of the Blueboy goal and took advantage of the scoring opportunity at the 21:04 mark. Ingram was also the Forester chosen to take a penalty kick a minute-and-a-half into the second half and his fifth score of the season gave Lake Forest a 3-0 lead at the time.
In addition to assisting Ingram on the game's first goal, Opiola, a junior defender, scored the second in the 27th minute. The ball was bouncing around in front of the goal following a corner kick and he sent it past the Illinois College goalkeeper for his second score of the year. Opiola and the rest of the Forester defense limited the home team to 11 total shots and just four on goal in the contest.
The victory improved Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 9-5-1 and MWC mark to 6-1-0.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
