Lake Forest College football player Joey Valdivia was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday after rushing for a career-high 295 yards in the Foresters' 37-27 victory at Beloit College on Saturday.
Valdivia, a senior tailback, started the 2017 season with the third-highest single-game rushing total in program history. He averaged 8.2 yards per carry on his 36 attempts and scored touchdowns on a pair of 1-yard runs. In addition to his rushing success, Valdivia also caught three passes for 36 yards and his 20-yard touchdown reception accounted for the first points in the contest.
Already the Foresters' career leader in rushing touchdowns, Valdivia's three scores on Saturday moved him past Dan Carter '10 and into first place in program history with 252 points and 42 touchdowns overall.
The D3football Team of the Week is comprised of a starting lineup on offense and defense as well as a kicker, punter, returner, and special teams player. Forester players have now made the list 20 times since 1999.
