Jim Catanzaro to be Honored by Phi Beta Sigma

Lake Forest College Head Football Coach Jim Catanzaro will be among the honorees when the Lake County Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Inc. recognizes local businesses and community leaders during its 1st Annual Blue and White Ball on October 11 at the Milan Banquet Hall in Waukegan.

The Nu Lambda Sigma Chapter also will announce the recipients of its 2014 Scholarships during the night's festivities, which also will commemorate the national organization's Centennial Celebration.

The organization will present Phi Beta Sigma Sapphire Awards to local businesses, organizations and individuals who have exemplified leadership and commitment to the fraternity's three national programs:  Bigger and Better Business, Education, and Social Action with a special award for Military Service.

The award's title embodies the organization's colors "royal blue and pure white" as well as its motto, "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity." Award recipients were selected through an in-depth and competitive nomination process. This year's awardees are as follow:

The Honorable Brother Jonathan A. Mason, Sr., the 34th International President of Phi Beta Sigma Inc., will deliver the keynote address. Master of Ceremony will be Jason McKie, former member of the Chicago Bears and the current Radio Host for 87.7FM "The Game Chicago."
