Junior Susie Baca scored for the second time this season in the Lake Forest College women's soccer team's 2-2 tie at St. Norbert College Friday night.
Baca took a pass from freshman Morgan Henrichs and snuck the ball past the Green Knight goalkeeper and just inside the left post from the right side of the field. Her goal tied the score at one in the game's 52nd minute.
The visitors then took the lead at the 64:30 mark on a penalty kick by senior Shari Jacobson. It was her third goal of the year.
St. Norbert had taken the early lead just two minutes and 42 seconds into the contest. After falling behind, the home team scored the official game-tying goal when a pass near the top of the box was inadvertently kicked in by a Forester sprinting back on defense.
The Green Knights out-shot Lake Forest 5-4 in the first half but the Foresters had nine attempts to St. Norbert's three in the second. Each team attempted one shot in the first 10-minute overtime period, during which a second yellow card was issued to one of the Foresters, forcing them to play the final 14 minutes of the contest with just 10 on the field. The home team accounted for both of the shots in the second overtime but still trailed Lake Forest 14-11 in that category on the night.
Forester freshman goalkeeper Paige Thiel made four saves on the night, two in the first half, one in the second, and one in double-overtime.
Lake Forest is now 4-7-1 overall and 2-1-1 in Midwest Conference play this season. St. Norbert is 8-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the league.
The Foresters will play a pair of conference games at home next weekend. The first will be against defending league champion Knox College Saturday afternoon at 1:00 and the second exactly 24 hours later against Monmouth College.
