Lake Forest College women's basketball player Kelsey Schmitt was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after leading her team in scoring in the last two contests.
Schmitt, a senior guard, finished with 11 points and did not commit a turnover in the Foresters' 63-46 loss at Ripon College on Saturday.
Lake Forest hosted and defeated Illinois Institute of Technology 79-50 on Monday and Schmitt led all players in the contest with 19 points in 24 minutes of play. She shot 8-for-14 from the field and added three steals in another turnover-free performance.
After scoring a total of 23 points in the first 10 games of the season, Schmitt has poured in a team-high 47 in the last three. She has shot 48.6 percent from the field with nine assists and just one turnover in those three contests.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Schmitt also earned the award twice during her sophomore season.
