Softball player Sally Snarski was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead her team to three victories in four conference games on the road last weekend.
Snarski, a senior first baseman, went 5-for-7 on the day and had a double in each game as Lake Forest split a doubleheader at Monmouth College on Saturday. She drove in one run during a 5-3 loss in the opener and plated three in a 7-3 game two victory. Her first base hit of the day was also the 100th of her career.
The Foresters swept a doubleheader at Illinois College on Sunday, taking the opener 4-1 and game two 9-7 in eight innings. Snarski's run-scoring single in game one gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. She then belted her first home run of the season with a pair of runners on base in the eighth inning of game two. It was the 20th round-tripper of her career, tying her for third in program history.
Snarski's batting average climbed to .314 over the weekend and she now leads the team with 10 runs batted in this season.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
