Lake Forest College men's golfer Austin Aksoy was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday after posting a career-best round on Saturday.
Aksoy, a sophomore, fired a 75 on the 7,100-yard, par-72 Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. His score was three strokes better than his previous career-low and put him in a tie for 18th place out of 100 players at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational. It also matched the second-best round in the conference so far this spring.
Aksoy is now averaging 81.29 strokes per 18 holes in seven rounds this year.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Aksoy is the second straight Forester to earn the award, joining fellow sophomore Jacob Krugman, the league's honoree on April 3.
