• Four Forester Athletes Among the College's 'Senior 25'

    Lake Forest College announced the top 25 rising seniors at the Spring Leadership Awards on Thursday, April 14. Forester football player Kenneth Clady Mason, softball player Danielle Gore, and men's soccer players Chris Haught-Thompson and Anthony Valsami were among the honerees.

    Athletic Director Jackie Slaats and Head Football Coach Jim Catanzaro announced the resignation of offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kevin Canty from the Forester football coaching staff late last week. Earlier today, they announced the promotion of current assistant coach Craig Kerr to the position.

    The Midwest Conference announced its Academic All-MWC honorees for the fall of 2010 on Thursday. Lake Forest College had 42 student-athletes earn the honor, the most in any season in school history.

    The 2010 All-Midwest Conference football teams were released Wednesday. Junior defensive lineman Kenneth Clady Mason and senior kicker Tim Gruzwalski earned Second Team honors and four other Foresters were Honorable Mention status.

    The Lake Forest College football team was defeated 27-10 at Monmouth College on Saturday. Junior safety Luke Butts (game-high 13 tackles) and the rest of the Forester defense limited the Fighting Scots to just 12 first downs and 278 yards of offense but five turnovers by the visitors decided the game.

    As part of its annual Homecoming festivities, Lake Forest College added four members to its Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. Football player John Klasen '96, swimmers Colleen Gallagher O'Connor '98 and Robert Edgell '00, and tennis player David Kelly '00 were inducted at a ceremony in the College's Mohr Student Center.

    The Lake Forest College football team erased a 24-7 deficit but eventually fell 33-27 in overtime to Beloit College on Saturday. The Forester defense forced five turnovers and recorded 14 tackles for loss, including five sacks, in the heartbreaking Homecoming loss.
