The Lake Forest College athletic department hosted its 23rd annual F.A.N. Club Golf Outing on Friday, June 15, 2018 at White Deer Run in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
The golf outing was held on what turned out to be a beautiful day and had another terrific turnout from participants, sponsors, and donors alike. Proceeds from the outing enable the department to purchase uniforms, warm-ups, and other program enhancing items that the department would otherwise be unable to support in its operating budget.
Participants took part in several fun on-course contests including longest drive, straightest drive, and closest to the pin. Those who were recognized for their achievements on these holes include:
Longest drive (men): Sean O'Malley
Longest drive (women): Beth Pier
Straightest drive: Chris Sudlow
Closest to the pin (men): Luke Waggoner
Closest to the pin (women): Tiffany Milliken
The winning men's team was made up Adam Antell '06, Brian Bruha '02, Tim Lynch, and Sean O'Malley while the winning women's team included Karen Hermann, Beth Pier, Sherry White, and Pam Wittenbrink (featured to the right). The course was not only filled with golfers, but ardent supporters and a contagious spirit and pride for Forester Athletics!
Following the round of golf, participants and friends of Forester Athletics gathered in the reception area of the clubhouse to enjoy a dinner buffet and to take part in the raffle and both the live and silent auctions. Features included vacation packages to Pebble Beach, San Francisco, Pinehurst, and Keystone as well as a framed water painting of the Chicago Blackhawks parade signed by Jonathan Toews and four tickets to a Notre Dame football game against Stanford University. The silent auction contained tickets to Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls games, experiential packages, golf bundles to exclusive courses, a vibrant framed Walter Payton collage, and a framed and signed photograph of Anthony Rizzo, to name a few.
A sincere thank you goes out to our sponsors, donors, and participants for joining us this year. The success the athletic department has achieved would not be possible without your support. Thank you to those who were able to join us this year and we hope to have even more Forester Fans golf or participate in the 19th hole reception next year.
