    They say that tragedy strikes as unexpectedly as lightning in a cloudless sky. On March 21, 2018, seniors on the Lake Forest College women’s hockey team, together with the team’s play by play webcaster Natalie Bober, met at the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse ice rink. Always considerate, women’s hockey captain Kayla Griffith, also a senior, had gathered the players and their webcaster to commemorate the team’s winning 2017-2018 season.

The Peter Taylor award was established as a fond tribute by his family, friends and former teammates.

    One tradition at Lake Forest College that is held in high regard is the tradition of giving back and helping others. One Forester who depicts this tradition perfectly is women’s basketball alumna Danielle Canulli ’15. Canulli found her way to a career at Discovery Communications through the Forester network and then, via the Forester Game Plan, played a role in the hiring of Lake Forest College alumni soccer players Tim Mourikes ’16 and Bjorn Trail-Johnson ’17.

From Lake Forest College, junior Amy Budde (women’s hockey), senior Kyra Vidas (women’s handball), and Julia Unterseher (women’s hockey) were selected to participate in the program. Budde, Vidas, and Unterseher were three of 10 selected to represent the inaugural class.

    Aram Arslanian, a sophomore on the Lake Forest College men’s basketball team, took his talents overseas this summer to compete within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as a member of Armenia’s U-20 Basketball team. Arslanian was selected to represent Armenia at the Under 20 European Championship - Division B, which was held in Oradea, Romania.
